JUPITER supercomputer breaks world record with 50-qubit quantum simulation
Researchers at Jülich Supercomputing Centre and NVIDIA achieved a record-breaking milestone by simulating a 50-qubit quantum computer using JUPITER, Europe's first exascale supercomputer, surpassing the previous 48-qubit record. The breakthrough demonstrates how advanced supercomputing enables quantum research validation and algorithm development, with the simulation requiring 2 petabytes of memory and managing over 2 quadrillion complex numerical values across thousands of computing nodes.
